Authorities name woman who died from skiing accident on Saturday

The woman who died from a Saturday skiing accident at Cascade Mountain Ski Hill was identified Tuesday as Bethany Rieth, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers learned of a woman who needed medical attention after running into a tree, a sheriff's statement said. Sheriff's officers, ski patrol and other authorities assisted Rieth at the ski hill, located at West 10441 Cascade Mountain Road, Portage, before she was transported to Divine Savior Hospital, the statement said.

At the hospital, the 24-year-old from Oconto Falls was declared dead, the statement said.

Rieth was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to authorities.
