An Edgerton business owner has pleaded guilty to not paying payroll taxes withheld from employee paychecks in 2014.

Gary Auerswald, 61, pleaded guilty in federal court in Madison on Friday.

He owned Full Spectrum Building Components in Edgerton, and had the responsibility to collect and pay the company's payroll taxes to the IRS.

Funds collected were supposed to be deposited with the IRS but Auerswald admitted at the plea hearing he didn't pay over $24,000 in taxes on behalf of his employees from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1, 2014.

U.S. District Judge James Peterson scheduled sentencing on June 29, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. He could get up to five years in prison.
