Q: Whatever happened to Bernie Brewer's chalet and beer mug from Milwaukee County Stadium?

A: There were actually two different chalets that hovered beyond the center field fence at County Stadium, said Lakefront Brewery owner Russ Klisch. Both chalets currently reside at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee.

One of the chalets was auctioned off and purchased by former Brewers bat boy Bill La Macchia Jr. for about $5,000. That chalet was built in the late '70s and stood through the Brewers' 1982 World Series appearance, until it was removed to install a public address system in the late '80s. La Macchia bought the chalet as a memento to his days with the Brewers, but asked to keep the chalet at Lakefront Brewery for display, Klisch said.

The second chalet was installed in the in the early '90s and stood until the ballpark was closed following the 2000 season. That chalet was in better shape and was sold to Klisch at the time for $18,000 including the slide and the beer mug that Bernie once slid into.

"They didn't want to auction that one because they wanted it to be in a place where it would be used properly," Klisch said.

Today, the newer chalet sits inside the brewery, while the older one sits outside. The slides are not attached, but Klisch said Brewers fans can take their picture with the chalet during brewery tours.
