We asked you to send us your Wisconsin tattoos. Your response blew us away.

Last week we put a call out to the Wisconsin State Journal's Facebook and Instagram followers looking for anyone who loves Wisconsin so much they "said it in ink."

In the past, similar requests for photo submissions have been hit-or-miss (with a lot of "miss").

This time the response was overwhelming.

More than 100 Wisconsinites from all over the country sent in their photos and encouraged their friends to do the same.

There were simple tattoos (like the many examples of the outline of the state adorning wrists, ankles, thighs and more) and there were multicolored masterpieces as well — tattoos that clearly were planned, designed and executed with a lot of thought and care, and probably took a long time to complete.

But the one uniting factor in all of the submitted tattoos was love for the state we call home.

Thank you to everyone who sent in their tats. Unfortunately, we couldn't use all of the submissions. Here are the ones we could use.

Got a Wisconsin tattoo you want included in this gallery? Email it to webdesk@madison.com for consideration. If possible, please include the name of the tattooed person and the tattoo artist. (If you want to tell us a little about what makes your tattoo significant to you, we might publish that too.)
