The StartingBlock Madison entrepreneurial hub will open in early June in the Spark building, 821 E. Washington Ave. StartingBlock is announcing some of its first occupants -- they will include Arch Virtual virtual reality services and the gener8tor startup accelerator.

The StartingBlock Madison entrepreneurial hub is naming nearly a dozen young companies that will move into its quarters from the start.

They include ArchVirtual, a virtual reality services company currently in Oregon, Wisconsin; ImageMoverMD, with technology that provides a secure way to transmit medical images electronically; and bluDiagnostics, with a saliva test to measure a woman's fertility.

Other startups that have signed contracts so far are: Bump Studios, a video game developer; LineLeap, a way to bypass long ticket lines: Markable, a fashion product app; Rebate Bus, which simplifies energy utility rebates; Wolf Flow, desktop workflow management software; hankr, with high-quality restaurant food photos; Flourish, for improving employee engagement; and Kilter, offering employee wellness programs.

"There's still space for interested companies to apply, but I anticipate all offices and suites spaces will be occupied by opening," said Chandra Miller Fienen, StartingBlock director of operations and programs. "Starting Block is likely to have 15 to 20 companies with designated space requirements but can support and house many more with flexible, smaller space needs."

At least half a dozen organizations that support entrepreneurs also will occupy StartingBlock, such as the gener8tor business accelerator; the Doyenne Group that mentors women entrepreneurs; Bunker Labs, a group supporting military entrepreneurs; and the Wisconsin Game Alliance.

StartingBlock will occupy 50,000 square feet on the second, third and fourth floors of the Spark building at 821 E. Washington Ave. StartingBlock will open in early June.
