Stickley Furniture finds a new Madison home

A high-end furniture brand that for years was sold at Stevens Design Center in Fitchburg has a new retail home.

Woodworks Furniture & Design, 6641 Watts Road, will celebrate the opening of its new Stickley Gallery through April 15. The furniture brand was founded in 1900, and Woodworks becomes just one of 123 Stickley dealers in the country. Woodworks acquired the Stickley line after Stevens Design closed its store late last year due to a planned redesign of the Verona Road and Highway PD intersection.

Woodworks is owned Bruce and Sandy North who purchased the company in 1989 when it consisted of a 2,000-square-foot store in Fitchburg. In 1991, the couple moved their store to its current space, a 17,000-square-foot store on Madison's West Side.
