A Monroe ethanol plant has expanded its production capacity.
Badger State Ethanol has more than doubled its ethanol production ability after a recent expansion to its distillation system. The company will go from producing 40 million gallons annually to more than 90 million gallons per year.
The company worked with engineering-firm Lucas E3, which installed a patent-pending secondary distillation system that reduces the amount of heat needed for production.
The ethanol plant started production in 2002 and also makes 128,000 tons of animal feed, known as distiller grains, annually.
