A Blue Mounds company, Midwest Prototyping, is one of seven companies honored with Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year awards.

Midwest Prototyping received a special award for "emerging technology." Founded in 2001, Midwest Prototyping specializes in rapid prototyping and in producing customized 3D-printed industrial parts.

The company has been on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S. for the past five years. In 2016, Midwest Prototyping ranked No. 3886 and listed annual revenues of $4.5 million.

Winners of the "grand awards" were: General Plastics, Milwaukee, small category; Hydro-Thermal Corp., Waukesha, medium category; Mortara Instrument, Milwaukee, large category; and Greenheck Fan Corp., Schofield, mega category.

Other "special award" winners were: Sargento Food, Plymouth, for community stewardship, and Orion Energy Systems, Manitowoc, for market adaptability.

The winners were named Thursday night at a banquet in Milwaukee. The awards program is sponsored by the Baker Tilly accounting firm; Michael Best law firm; and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce.
