A partition manufacturer headquartered in Janesville for 117 years was sold to a private equity firm that specializes in acquiring and operating businesses seeking growth.

Hufcor was founded in Janesville in 1900 and is the most-installed brand of operable partitions worldwide, Hufcor spokesman Jeff Fluckiger said. It has manufacturing facilities around the world, including the United States, Australia, Germany and China.

Los Angeles-based OpenGate Capital, founded in 2005, manages businesses in varying industries and bought Hufcor, which CEO Andrew Nikou called "a category leader."

"OpenGate's global presence and focus will assist Hufcor in reaching its full potential operationally and commercially," Hufcor CEO Kevin Flanagan said. "Hufcor will continue to innovate with new and exciting products in the architectural space, pushing the limits and expanding the possibilities."
