Epic Systems Corp.'s Judy Faulkner: The Wealthiest Woman in Tech, Forbes says

Judy Faulkner, co-founder and CEO of Epic Systems Corp., is on a list of “The Wealthiest Female Techies in America.

Faulkner tops the list of the most successful women tech company founders, according to the Forbes article, with a net worth of $2.6 billion.

More than half the patients in U.S. health care systems have their health history stored on software created by Verona-based Epic’s electronic health records systems.

But Faulkner and other women tech business founders don’t hold as high a public profile as some of the superstar female executives of major U.S. tech companies who came in after the companies started, such as Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman and Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, Forbes says.

Whitman’s fortune is estimated at $2.1 billion, much of that from her stewardship of eBay for 10 years, and Sandberg is worth $1.05 billion, Forbes says.

In all, the 11 wealthiest women in tech have a combined net worth of $10.6 billion, the magazine says. But that’s far below the net worth of the 11 richest men in the tech industry, listed as a total of $343.5 billion.

Faulkner has typically refuted or refused comment on Forbes’ estimates of her net worth. Epic had nearly $1.8 billion in 2014 revenue.

Faulkner announced in March she is setting up a charitable foundation that eventually will get most of her stock in Epic.
