Bishops Bay rendering

Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton is planning an addition that will include a new dining and event hall, shown in the left foreground of this rendering.

Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton is adding a new event and dining hall as part of a renovation of its historic clubhouse.

The project also will update the existing dining room, bar and bathrooms and include exterior work on the building. Bishops Bay general manager Jeff Murray called the project a "multi-million dollar renovation" but declined to give an exact amount.

Madison-based architecture, engineering and construction firm Iconica has already completed the design work needed for the renovation and addition, spokeswoman Rowan Childs said, and plans to begin construction next month. The project will be complete when the club reopens next April.

Bishops Bay has a year-round staff of 45 that swells to 130 in the summer, Murray said.
