Wisconsin exported $700 million worth of agricultural products to more than 100 countries in the first three months of this year, for a 16 percent increase over the same period in 2011.

Wednesday’s report from the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said Wisconsin now is 15th in the nation in first-quarter exports compared with 18th in the first quarter of 2011.

Wisconsin dairy producers and processors exported $64 million worth of dairy products in the first quarter, up 23 percent from a year ago.

Wisconsin exported $75 million of ethanol in the first quarter, making it the second-largest ethanol exporter in the nation.
