Dan Kohl, a Mequon businesssman and nephew of former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl, said he'll seek the Democratic nomination in 2018 for the congressional seat now held by Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman.
Kohl is a former assistant general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Scott Olmer, a marketing consultant from Plymouth, told the Fond du Lac Reporter that he also will seek the Democratic nomination for the seat.
Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District has reliably voted Republican in recent elections. It stretches along Lake Michigan from the northern Milwaukee suburbs to Sheboygan and Manitowoc, and west to Oshkosh and Fond du Lac. It also covers part of south-central Wisconsin, including Columbia, Marquette and Green Lake counties.
Grothman, R-Glenbeulah, has represented Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District since 2015.
