Of course not; APAs can be hop-forward as well (and Ride Again is certainly hop-forward). But while just about every IPA is hop-forward, APAs tend to be more balanced and there are a lot of them that are malt-forward.

Hop Rise is 4.5% ABV... firmly within generally accepted session beer range. Is there something else you're looking for to deem is "session"?

1. The selection committee may have learned its lesson with two higher-seeded Leinie's beers losing in the first round this year. Last year, Honey Weiss, a 1 seed, made it to the Sweet Sixteen but no further.
