CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Jose Rivera hit a solo home run in the third inning, leading the GCL Phillies West to a 3-2 win over the GCL Phillies East in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The home run by Rivera gave the GCL Phillies West a 1-0 lead.

After GCL Phillies West added two runs in the sixth, the GCL Phillies East cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Micah Yonamine hit a two-run single.

Juan Miranda (1-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while GCL Phillies East starter Carlos Betancourt (0-2) took the loss in the Gulf Coast League game.

GCL Phillies West improved to 4-2 against GCL Phillies East this season.
