The time is now if you’ve ever wanted to become a Madison firefighter.
The Madison Fire Department only takes in applications once every two years, and that opportunity starts Sunday, during a Recruitment Open House.
You have free articles remaining.
The open house will begin at 2 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 316 W. Dayton St. Recruiters will be on hand to answer questions and to give tours of the station, as well as to show how to apply online.
You don’t have to go to the open house to apply. More information about applying can be found online at madisonfire.org.
Applications will be accepted through Nov. 30, with successful candidates starting their training at the Fire Academy in the fall of 2018.
To qualify, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a high school graduate or in possession of a high school equivalency diploma, have a current driver’s license and be of sound mental and physical health.
