On May 17, WisconsinEye Senior Producer Steve Walters and WisPolitics.com Editor JR Ross discussed Legislative Fiscal Bureau's revised estimate of an additional $753 million in general fund tax collections. Over a three year period, individual income tax collections increased $460 million and corporate income tax collections increased $610 million. Conversely, sales tax will drop $280 million and cigarette tax will drop $37 million. The $610 million in corporate taxes is largely a result of the federal tax reform act. Governor Tony Evers wants to use the $56 million to pay down debt, $18 million for the technical college system, $15 million for worker training and the rest to go in the rainy day fund.
