As reported by WisPolitics.com, the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities and the Senate Committee on Utilities, Technology and Telecommunication held a joint public hearing today on legislation that would increase funding for the Citizens Utility Board.

CUB is an independent nonprofit that represents residential and small business utility customers before the Public Service Commission.

Utilities such as Alliant Energy and Madison Gas & Electric support the bill. None of the 19 groups that have registered on AB 27 and SB 47 oppose the measure.

The bill would provide annual funding of up to $900,000 for the consumer advocate.

Featured is Committee Co-Chair Senator Julian Bradley (R-Franklin) explaining the bill and PSC Chair Becky Valcq speaking in favor.
