The state Capitol Christmas tree is now lit.
Gov. Scott Walker and a handful of Christmas tree growers from around Wisconsin held a brief tree lighting ceremony early Friday morning.
The towering Balsam fir tree in the Capitol rotunda is decorated with ornaments made by Wisconsin school children. It's theme is "In Wisconsin," and features ornaments representing local goods made in the state. It's from the Meyer Castle Tree Farm in Medford.
Walker also cut down a much smaller Christmas tree from Whispering Pines Tree Farm near Oconto.
The event drew a handful of Walker opponents, who quietly held signs that read things like "Walker is John Doe," and "Indict Walker."
