The name of the Beaver Dam Police officer placed non-disciplinary administrative leave following a shooting incident in Beaver Dam has been released.

Beaver Dam Police Officer Brian Linzenmeyer, a 17-year veteran of the Beaver Dam Police Department, shot Richard Henke II, 35, Beaver Dam, according to Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt.

He said that Linzenmeyer will remain on non-disciplinary leave until the investigation is completed.

“No further information will be released regarding this incident until such time as the investigation has been completed and the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office review is complete,” Schmidt said.

Police received a 911 call for a domestic incident between a man and a woman at a house on Walnut Street at 5:36 p.m., Oct. 26. Henke received injuries to his lower extremities after the police response ended in gun fire and he was transported to UW Hospital in Madison.

Schmidt said early in the investigation that the officers were responding to an incident involving a firearm and another Beaver Dam Police Officer received minor injuries while trying to find cover during the incident.

The last law enforcement involved shooting in Beaver Dam happened Aug. 5, 2016, when a Dodge County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man who had fired a gun at officers from the balcony of an apartment on the north side of the city.
