A Madison man looking on Craigslist for his stolen $6,000 racing bicycle saw the bike for sale, contacted police and got his bike back and the alleged thief arrested.

Michael Lowe, 31, of Madison, was arrested Monday and tentatively charged with felony theft and bail jumping, Madison police said.

The 42-year-old victim was able to identify the bike in the photo on Craigslist, because there was a sticker on the frame with his name on it.

The Trek Domane Series bicycle was stolen from the victim's home in the 800 block of Twin Pines Drive in August.

"A detective determined the thief sold the bike to a pawn shop, and the pawn shop sold it to the man who posted it for sale on Craigslist," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "The secondary seller didn't know the bike was stolen."

Pawn records showed who sold the bike to the shop, and the suspect was identified and arrested.
