A Reedsburg man has been arrested in connection with an interstate crash Friday in Columbia County.
Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner said Saturday night that a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper located and arrested Robert E. Wright, 47, on Smokey Hollow Road in Columbia County.
Wisconsin State Patrol troopers and sheriff’s deputies from Columbia and Sauk counties had sought the driver after he allegedly fled a crash scene Friday night when his truck hit with a barrier in the median on interstate 90/94.
State Patrol Sgt. Gary Helgerson said the southbound driver crashed his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado at 5:56 p.m. Friday into a barrier along the interstate in Columbia County. The driver then fled over a fence and ran into a wooded area.
Brandner said his deputies deployed a K-9 team Friday night and tracked the suspect through some fields to a hotel, but he was not immediately found.
No other vehicles were damaged in the crash. It was unclear whether the driver had any injuries.
Helgerson said there were no indications of alcohol use in the crash.
