A hunter from Holmen was shot accidentally by another hunter on Sunday during a squirrel hunt in Vernon County.

Lee Vang, 43, was taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse to get treated for the injury, the Vernon County Sheriff's Office said.

According to the sheriff's report, Alcedin Vang, 44, Eau Claire, was shooting at a squirrel when he accidentally shot Lee Vang.

The incident happened at about 10:15 a.m. on public hunting lands about a mile east of Coon Valley.

The incident remains under investigation by the Department of Natural Resources.
