The 1998 NFL Draft was headlined by two quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. Whoever the Indianapolis Colts took with the first overall pick, the San Diego Chargers would select with the second overall pick. The Colts chose Manning, a future Hall of Famer, leaving Leaf to the Chargers. Due to injuries and suspensions, Leaf only played two seasons with the Chargers, winning just four of his 18 starts. During Leaf’s rookie season, he threw 15 interceptions but only two touchdowns. After the Chargers released Leaf in 2001, he only played one more season in the NFL.
