On June 10, 1982, Steven Spielberg's sci-fi fantasy "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" had its world premiere in Los Angeles. The film about a lonely boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.,” was an immediate blockbuster. It starred Henry Thomas as Elliott, Drew Barrymore as Gertie, and Robert MacNaughton.
