Kim Crawford 2016 Pinot Noir New Zealand ($16.99)

You may know Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc, a classic example of the country’s iconic wine style, which gives tasters the one-two punch of tropical fruit (mango and papaya) with the addition of pungent green, fresh grass and grapefruit citrus. The average price tag of $14 is hard to beat when you want a fresh, fruity, uncomplicated wine.

This Pinot Noir is its red counterpart. It provides a mouthful of red cherries and raspberries on a silky smooth palate with a refreshing lift of acidity. It is an easy-drinking and very enjoyable wine with an equally pleasing price tag.

If you’d like to submit a Napa Valley wine for this column, please send it to the Napa Valley Wine Academy, 2501 Oak St., Napa, CA 94559. There’s no guarantee your wine will be chosen to be featured, but all wines will be evaluated and considered.
