Cellars Sant Rafael Solpost Grenache Carignane Montsant Spain

South of the maze of hidden streets and endless tapas bars in Barcelona is thé wine region of Montsant, Spain. CAVA, the Spanish sparkling wine, is available aplenty, but the heart and history of this area is Grenache and Carignane.

Cellars Sant Rafael is a small family-run estate run by the Peñas family. Their 2010 Solpost will provide spiced plum fruit with dried herb complexity, but even more, it provides a prelude to the stories, the people and culture of this extraordinary part of Spain.

This wine is available in the United States, but I’d suggest it is tasted here, where the almond trees and Mediterranean breezes help make this area a soon-to-be UNESCO world heritage site.
