Dear Editor: On May 7, concerned citizens around the country will call on Chase Bank to stop financing fossil fuels. Many banks have taken steps to abandon this practice, but others continue to chart a course that contributes to climate catastrophe.

Leading the pack of fossil fuel funders is JP Morgan Chase. Since Donald Trump took office, JP Morgan Chase has quadrupled its investment in tar sands. The bank has consented to supplying capital to pipeline builders such as Transcanada, Kinder Morgan and Enbridge Energy, which operates in Wisconsin.

In response to this irresponsible practice, there will be a day of action at Chase Branches across the country. A march in Madison will be hosted by the 350 Madison Climate Action Divestment Team.

When: Monday, May 7, 2018, 4:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Where: JPMorgan Chase Bank, 22 E. Mifflin Street, across from the bank on the North Hamilton side of the Capitol

Speaker: Phyllis Hasbrouck, project leader, "Drawing a Line in the Tar Sands," Wisconsin Safe Energy Alliance
