Dear Editor: I’m deeply concerned about the new Wisconsin law that went into effect Nov. 1 and allows loaded and concealed guns in our shops, restaurants and bars.
Governor Walker is the most unpopular governor in the history of Wisconsin governors, for his fascist labor busting and dismantling of BadgerCare. But now...wait! What a fantastic idea: combining alcohol with loaded guns! With Wisconsin’s notorious binge-drinking culture and high rates of alcohol abuse and consumption, adding loaded guns to the mix sounds wonderful. Way to go, Scott Walker! You truly thought about the safety of our community with this one.
There is no reason anyone should be carrying a loaded gun anywhere. If you really need to exercise the outmoded Second Amendment, fine; keep a gun in your house and be paranoid and dangerous. But remember the law of attraction.
There is every reason for all businesses, bars and restaurants to prohibit the possession of guns on their properties. I will not enter the businesses that do not prominently display “guns prohibited” on their front doors.
I urge all community members with any brain cells left to oppose this ridiculous new law from staying alive.
