A temporary forest, made of discarded Christmas trees, has been installed on the frozen surface of Lake Monona. Handpainted signs welcome visitors and state the intent of this community art project. Paintings, framed photos and signs adorn the trees. One neighbor left a basket of fabric strips and some markers on the ice so visitors can leave messages tied to the tree branches. The installation is on the north side of the lake, a short walk on the ice from Morrison Park.
