Two Madison School Board seats will be decided on April 4, and the Feb. 21 primary narrowed the choices down to two candidates in each race: Ali Muldrow and Kate Toews for Seat 6 and incumbent Ed Hughes and Nicki Vander Meulen for Seat 7.
Cap Times K-12 education reporter Amber Walker and Simpson Street Free Press editor Taylor Kilgore will co-host a public forum with the candidates on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at West High School, but without Hughes, who recently decided to end his campaign when his wife's cancer returned.
Kilgore is a UW-Madison senior and a mentor in the Simpson Street program, which provides journalism and writing training for Dane County students in grades 3 through 12.
This will be the 21st event in our Cap Times Talks series. There is no admission charge, and Cap Times gear will be available for those who sign up to be on our electronic mailing list at the event. Hope to see you there. If you do plan to go, please RSVP on our Facebook event page.
Editor's note: This story was updated on March 2 to reflect Hughes' decision to end his campaign.
