Chef Brian Baur is a co-owner of the new Common Pasta food cart, which vends weekdays on the Capitol Square, 1 E. Main St.

Madison's street vending scene is booming. Some 65 food carts applied to be reviewed last fall serving a diverse array of cuisines, from Peruvian, Indonesian and Venezuelan food to pork buns, fresh pasta and teriyaki bowls.

This week on the podcast, city street vending coordinator Meghan Blake-Horst joins Lindsay Christians to talk about what's new this season. Food cart reviewers now receive a day of training on how to evaluate each vendor. There are also some fun new carts on the scene, like Nani Restaurant's new cart, Caracas Arepas and Chrysalis Pops, fresh fruit popsicles sold to benefit mental health programs.
