After a series of soft openings that started with a "sneak peek" during cocktail week, Chad Vogel's craft cocktail bar, the Robin Room, opened officially on Monday.
The new bar at 821 E. Johnson St. has about 40 seats inside and will start with a menu of classic cocktails, like a Manhattan, Sazerac, Aviation, Last Word, Rob Roy or Blood and Sand.
A specialty cocktail list will be forthcoming, said Vogel. Vogel, a partner in the consulting group Three Count Beverage and the roving Barmadillo cocktail trailer, is a bartender and cook who has worked at Maduro, Nostrano and Kushi Bar Muramoto.
The Robin Room's hours to start will be 4 p.m. to bar time, Monday through Saturday. It will not be open on Sundays during March, but Vogel hopes eventually to be open seven days a week.
Also on Thursdays in March, the food cart El Grito will be making tacos and serving them inside Robin Room.
There will be a regular menu eventually, Vogel said, of “all snacky stuff” like hot nuts, beef sticks and popcorn.
“We will do a lot of different events with different chefs and food carts,” he said. "95 percent of the food will be finger food, though."
