Paul Fanlund has been named publisher of The Capital Times by the company’s board of directors, company President Clayton Frink has announced.
Fanlund will continue to direct the newsroom as editor but also represent the Cap Times within the Capital Newspapers organization. He will continue to oversee other Cap Times business interests, including WisPolitics.com, which the Cap Times owns. Frink, the former publisher, remains as president and CEO of The Capital Times Co.
“The Cap Times’ future will continue to be built on top-quality local journalism, authoritative progressive opinion and high-impact philanthropy,” Fanlund said. “I am gratified by the board’s vote of confidence and honored to lead this vital Madison institution in these fast-changing times.”
Fanlund joined the Cap Times in 2006 after being vice president of Capital Newspapers, Inc., and before that a longtime editor and reporter for the Wisconsin State Journal. He is a member of the boards of both The Capital Times Co. and the Evjue Foundation. The latter is the charitable arm of The Capital Times, named for founder William T. Evjue.
