Choo choo! The Holiday Train is coming to town.
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train chugs into Columbus Friday, Dec. 7, at 9:00 p.m. The locomotive is a light show on rails and carries a surprise. One of the boxcars folds out into a stage, complete with lights, speakers and a full band.
This year’s performers are The Trews and Willy Porter who will rock the platform near the Columbus Amtrak Station, 359 North Ludington Street, Columbus, Wis. For half an hour the band will play a medley of holiday hits.
The event benefits Crossroads Food Pantry. Attendees are encouraged to make a donation of nonperishable food to the drop off behind the Amtrak station.
For those worried about the evening chill, hot food and hot cocoa will be served on both sides of the tracks. Columbus Rotarians will be selling hot dogs, cocoa, chili and other snacks on the station side of the tracks. On the other, Julies Java House will serve hot cocoa, s’mores, sloppy joes and cookies.
The Holiday Train Warm Up will keep families entertained in the lead up to the train’s arrival. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. decorate sweet cookies, create festive crafts, talk to Santa and enjoy holiday magic performed by Christmas Carol. The Holiday Train Warm-Up will be hosted at the Columbus Area Senior Center, 125 North Dickason Blvd., and a convenient two block walk from the train station.
