Chocolate Shoppe

Two ice cream flavors from Madison-based The Chocolate Shoppe took top honors in their categories at the World Dairy Expo's dairy product contest. The company's Old Fashioned Vanilla won the vanilla category, and its Zanzibar Chocolate won the dark chocolate category. The Chocolate Shoppe has five Madison-area locations, including this one at 2302 Atwood Ave.

A goat cheese from Sartori Cheese Co. in Plymouth took top honors last week at the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest.

Sartori was named the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion with its Limited Edition Pastorale Blend, which was one of 13 Wisconsin cheeses that took first place in 23 cheese categories. Other category winners included Emmi Roth of Monroe for Petite Swiss; Mill Creek of Arena for a caraway brick; and Babcock Hall Dairy on the UW-Madison campus for its gouda.

Madison’s Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream won two ice cream categories — for its Old Fashioned Vanilla and Zanzibar Chocolate.

The Comfy Cow of Louisville, Kentucky, was named Ice Cream Grand Champion. Dean Foods of Rockford, Illinois, was chosen as the Grade A Grand Champion.

There were 1,210 entries in a variety of dairy products.

All category winners will be auctioned on Sept. 29 during the World Dairy Expo. A portion of the proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in the dairy industry.

The World Dairy Expo is Sept. 29-Oct. 3 at Alliant Energy Center.
