ORDINANCE NO. 20-01
ORDINANCE RELATIVE TO ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
OFFICIAL ZONING MAP FOR THE CITY OF PORTAGE
COLUMBIA COUNTY
WISCONSIN
The Common Council for the City of Portage does hereby Ordain as follows:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 11-003, the City developed and
adopted a revised Official Zoning Map consistent with and in compliance
with the Comprehensive Plan previously adopted by the City on August 14,
2008 in an effort to protect property values, create an environment in which
reinvestment is encouraged, establish clear development procedures, and
match regulations to the City’s existing and/or desired future land use pattern; and
WHEREAS, several amendments to the zoning map have been enacted
subsequently with the most recent occurring on December 13th, 2018 with
the Common Council adopting Ordinance No. 18-011; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission considered comments related to a zoning
amendment submitted by Secure Storage, LLC for the property at 2652
Murphy Road (Parcel No. 11271-3128.20) from its current M-3 Interchange
Industrial to M-1 Industrial; and
WHEREAS, on December 12, 2019, the Plan Commission held a public
hearing on the proposed amendment to the Zoning Map to conditionally
allow commercial storage use for this property and recommended to approve same; and
WHEREAS, the proposed zoning amendment is compatible with the current
industrial land use designation of Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map for
this property.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Common Council of the City
of Portage, Wisconsin, approved the Plan Commission recommendation to
amendment the Official Zoning Map as follows:

pursuant to law. The meeting was
called to order by Chair Gove and
was certified to be In compliance
with the Wisconsin Open Meetings
Law.
All Supervisors were present, except
De Young and Pufahl, absent with
notice; Blair absent without notice;
and Stevenson arrived late.
Members stood and recited the
Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Foley, second
by Wingers, to approve the Journal
of November 12, 2019. Motion carried.
A motion to approve the agenda as
printed, was made by Koch, second
by Weyh. Motion carried.
Chair Gave reported the sale of 2652
Murphy Road Property in the amount
of $250,000 to Secure Storage of

Families (DCF) and the support/
