AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Milwaukee Bucks found themselves shorthanded Wednesday night — both on the basketball court and, ultimately, on the scoreboard.
Missing several key players, including forwards Joe Alexander (abdominal strain) and Richard Jefferson (quad), and guards Luke Ridnour (knee) and Charlie Bell (Achilles tendinitis), the Bucks suffered an 85-71 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
Forward Charlie Villanueva had 20 points to lead Milwaukee, and Malik Allen added 18.
Bucks center Andrew Bogut played after missing Milwaukee's first preseason game because of a migraine, but finished with just seven points.
Arron Afflalo led the Pistons with 15 points, and Chauncey Billups added 12 for Detroit, which trailed 42-37 at halftime but outscored Milwaukee 48-29 in the second half.
