GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers placed defensive tackle Justin Harrell on the physically unable to perform list Monday, meaning the 2007 first-round draft pick will miss the team's first six regular-season games and won't be eligible to practice until the week of the Oct. 19 game against Indianapolis.
Harrell, who ruptured a disc in his back while lifting weights during the offseason, then suffered a setback in his rehab shortly before training camp opened July 28, will undergo another procedure as early as today, general manager Ted Thompson said Monday morning.
The Packers also released four players to get down to the NFL-mandated maximum 75 by releasing halfback DeShawn Wynn, a seventh-round pick last year; fullback Ryan Powdrell; longtime practice-squad receiver Chris Francies; and offensive lineman Ryan Considine.
