Jerry Kelly is going to play in the British Open after all.
The Madison golfer cancelled plans to play in the U.S. Bank Championship next week in Milwaukee after he learned Friday that he qualified to play in the British Open. The season's third major golf championship is being held next week at Royal Birkdale in Scotland.
Kelly got into the British Open field after David Toms and Luke Donald both withdrew. He was the second alternate.
Without Kelly in the field at Brown Deer Golf Course, the main focus at the U.S. Bank Championship will be on former champion Kenny Perry, who is one of the PGA Tour's hottest players.
On another note, PGA Tour players Jeff Maggert, Jesper Parnevik and Tom Pernice, Jr., were among the latest to commit to play in this year's U.S. Bank Championship.
