Michael Thomas: McCain, Palin sorry picks as candidates

Dear Editor:

John McCain has reached an all-time low and Sarah Palin is the tool he's using to go there. One would think that Americans who have lost so much in human sacrifice, unfettered greed, corruption and mismanagement by the GOP would be more discriminatory in who we choose as our leaders.

But no. Look who the GOP has brought forward to carry the torch after the Bush administration.

Palin was chosen as a vice presidential candidate for one reason: to be an attack dog on Sen. Barack Obama. That is the sum total of her value to Republican politics at a time when our country is hanging by a thread.

With even right-wing journalists calling for her to step down due to her lack of experience, and even worse, her lack of understanding of the world we live in, it's an insult to all Americans to think this is the best the GOP could do in terms of a vice presidential candidate.

Remember when George W. Bush said, "Even a C student can become president!" Look what that got us. Now they want us to elect a man who was ranked 895 out of 899 in his graduating class at the Naval Academy. Nice try.

It's time to restore grace and dignity to power in America. It's time to elect a leader who can restore hope and inspiration. Not class warfare, hatred and greed. We need Sen. Barack Obama as our next president.
