Madison area dog lovers put a four-legged spin on a traditional Octoberfest celebration, trotting out their canine counterparts to Dogtoberfest on Saturday at Capital Brewery's beer garden in Middleton.

The event, a fundraiser for the Dane County Humane Society's homeless animals, featured live music by the Gadjo Players plus games that included a dog version of "Survivor" and a costume contest.

While their human friends sipped pints of Island Wheat and Capital Amber, the corgis, collies and golden retrievers in the crowd snacked on lots of free treats, and socialized with their canine pals.
